Halloween is weird

I love Halloween, it's always been one of my favorite holiday's. You get to pretend to be a scary creature, then you go knock on people's doors and you get free candy, it doesn't get any better than that right? Still though, when you think about it, Halloween really is just downright weird!

Originally people started dressing up as frightening creatures because they believed on this day, the spirits of the dead came into our world or something like that. Our way of fooling these spirits was dressing up like them so they would leave us alone. However nowadays it seems that people dress up as pretty much anything! I'm really not sure how dressing up like celebrities or famous people is supposed to be scary. Unless it's a dead celebrity...then maybe...an undead Jim Varney would scare the hell out of me. Or you can dress up as Spongebob...but maybe have a meat cleaver in his head.

Another thing about Halloween that's strange is for this one day out of the year, begging for food from complete strangers is completely acceptable. Imagine on any other day of the year if you tried putting on a hockey mask and went knocking on someone's door at night begging for stuff. You'd probably get whacked upside the head.

As I said though I really do enjoy this holiday no matter how strange it may be. I love getting scared and it's so much fun to scare others...plus ya'know, free candy, you just can't beat free candy. Happy Halloween ya'll.

Are people becoming more inattentive?

As you may or may not already know, I work in a grocery store. I am around hundreds of people every single day. Lately I have been noticing a trend of people becoming more and more inattentive. Of course everyone gets distracted from time to time, but that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about someone bringing up a gallon of milk, paying for it, then just walking off and leaving it on the register when it's the only item they purchased! I'm really not kidding about this, I've seen it happen.

Another thing happened today that I just had to comment about. I was running on an express checkout lane and these two guys come up and put their stuff all together so I just assume the stuff is all one order...so I ring it up like normal...the first guy watches as though nothing is wrong. After I finish scanning all these items he proceeds to then pay for them. While paying you have to confirm that the price is correct, which he did. Then after the whole process is complete, he says, "wait, did I just pay for all that?" It turns out only the first item in the order was actually his. The second person who the stuff belonged to didn't say a word about it either.

Are we really getting this inattentive about things people? I just needed to make a post about this. Tell me what you think, and the next time you're at a grocery store checkout, please use the divider. Thanks. :-)
